Jerry, His Family, Their Faith

When I was very young my parents taught me about Jesus. I went to a Catholic grade school and our teachers were sisters from the Ursuline Academy of Paola, Kansas. The sisters were very strict and we learned from them about patience, discipline, sacrifice, obedience, morals, integrity, honesty, and how each was an important ingredient in a persons make up.

I learned that there is an all powerful God who created all things and that he sent his son Jesus Christ, born by the virgin Mary, to die on the cross for the sins of man kind.

In the early 1970ís, I was fortunate to be on the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Chapter of the fellowship of Christian Athletes. My wife Liz and I opened our home for fellowship huddle group meetings with the young men and women from local high schools in Johnson County Kansas and the University of Kansas. These young people, many times 150-200 of them, would testify and witness how Jesus Christ had entered their lives and how they dedicated their lives to Jesus Christ.

As a Christian I also realize there are those who believe differently than I do and I respect that. As Pope Benedict the Sixteenth said when he became Pope, we must reach out to all beliefs regardless of their faith and attempt to find ways to love and coexist with each other.

I believe that Jesus has always been present in all things I have done and that on those occasions when things were tough, He was carrying me and my family.
